Would You Hire PetSmart as Your Dog Walker or Pet Sitter?

One of my pet sitters found an article on PetSmart thinking about offering dog walking and in-home pet sitting. As a dog walking and pet sitting company owner, I was surprised that PetSmart would even consider stepping way outside of their usual business system to even consider doing this.

As a pet care provider, I have heard many stories and opinions about the PetSmart store, and about some of their customer service with some of the other services they offer. I would think that this would be a very bad idea, not because I am worried they would take away a lot of my business, but because I don’t think they would be able to provide the personal, and caring service that a small pet sitting company is able to offer. I would be worried that there may be some bad experiences that would come out of this. A large corporation just cannot provide the personal service, and offer a pet sitter or dog walker who truly cares for your pets, AND for the safety and privacy of your home.

Check out the article here, and leave your comments on The Woof Blog about whether you would use PetSmart for dog walking or pet sitting if they do end up offering the service.

No my husband and I would not. I do not feel confident that Petsmart could provide adequate care and safety of my pets or my home! Random people coming and going from our home would distress the pets and the neighbors,as well as, me and my husband.

While I have not gotten a lot of comments yet, this is the consensus I have been getting.

I just wanted to add that there is a comment about this on my Facbook page, and by talking to others offline, pet owners say they would not use PetSmart.
